Offline GeoPackage editor for Android and iOS
Mapit GIS stores every project as an OGC GeoPackage
(.gpkg). You create layers and attribute forms on the phone, collect and edit data with no
signal, and hand over a standard file that opens directly in QGIS, ArcGIS Pro or any other
GeoPackage-aware tool. There is no conversion step and no proprietary format in between.
What you can do with a GeoPackage in Mapit GIS

Open a GeoPackage from QGIS or another tool
Use Import Project to open an existing .gpkg. On
Android you can also tap the file in a file manager or email attachment and choose Mapit GIS.
- Supported layers: points, lines and polygons, including multi-part geometries.
- Coordinate system: vector layers need to be in WGS 84 (EPSG:4326). Reproject in QGIS first if your data is in a national grid. You can still display coordinates in British National Grid, PUWG 1992 or any other system; see Units and coordinates.
- Your original is safe: Mapit copies the file into the app and works on the copy. On first open it adds a few tables of its own for forms, styles and map services.
- Not supported: curved geometries, geometry collections, and raster tile tables as a basemap. A GeoPackage is imported as a whole project, not as a single layer.
What's inside a Mapit GeoPackage
When you export a project, the .gpkg contains:

Open it in QGIS (drag the file onto the map, or Layer → Add Layer → Add Vector Layer) or ArcGIS Pro (Add Data). The file is also a valid SQLite database.
Taking data out in other formats
Not everyone you work with uses GeoPackage. Each layer can also be exported to Shapefile, GeoJSON, KML, CSV, GPX, DXF, GeoParquet or ArcJSON, written straight to PostgreSQL / PostGIS, uploaded over SFTP or to Dropbox, or published as a hosted feature service on ArcGIS Online.
Team sync: Mapit Cloud (coming soon)
Mapit Cloud turns a GeoPackage project into a team project. A manager builds the project once (layers, fields, dropdowns, styles) and releases it to the crew. Everyone collects into their own copy, with or without signal, and syncs when it suits them.
- Rows, not files. A sync sends only the rows that changed and receives everyone else's changes, so after the first download every sync stays small.
- Nothing is lost. Two people editing different fields of one feature both land. When two people change the same field, both values are kept and put in front of a manager.
- See what has arrived. The team activity board shows what each person has synced, and when.
- Still a GeoPackage. Export the project as a
.gpkgat any time and open it in QGIS. - Encrypted, in the EU. Projects are encrypted whenever they are not in use, and the data stays in the EU.

Free and paid features
The free tier lets you create a project and collect data in it (one project, up to three layers and 20 features per layer). Importing GeoPackage projects and the full set of import and export formats need Mapit Pro. RTK corrections, snapping and the advanced editing tools are part of Mapit Pro+.
